Writing an article isn’t just about putting down your thoughts into words. The point is to capture the attention of your readers and keep them reading. For your message to be received you not only have to keep them interested, but pique their curiosity.
To bake a hot article, the main ingredient is a generous dose of creativity. While creativity comes natural to some people, others suffer from mental block and just can’t seem to get started. It’s been said writers have literally torn their own hair out when they got writers block. Print this article and keep it with your writing journal so you aren’t tempted to pull your hair out. Here’s how to get your creative juices flowing.
To put your word images into the mind of your reader is an art. A crystal clear description involves a certain flair only creativity provides. Symbols and comparisons are useful, but the way an article flows from word to word, sentence to sentence, paragraph to paragraph smoothly transitioning into the complete essence.
So just what do you when nothing comes to mind? There’s no magic formula to coming up with the perfect idea, but there are simple ways to start your creative juices flowing. There is no guarantee you will get into that perfect writing groove, but there are methods you can use to help you achieve that flow of mind. Try these five easy ways to see which method fits you best.
1) Keep a writing journal with you at all times. Ideas come and go. Some ideas can be triggered by something you see, hear, or smell. Tap into your senses they are great radars to helping you find great ideas. As ideas come to you write them in your journal for future reference. Keep notes on anything you hear or read, you can find inspiration from others – you can use them to help cultivate your own ideas – no, this is not stealing. Remember inspiration can spark creativity and ideas at any time; you make it unique by putting “you” on it.
2) Relax and develop an actionable plan. A cluttered and unorganized mind has no space to create new ideas. You have to have a clear mind to tap into your inner creativity. Clear a slot of time on your calendar when your mind is at its best. Some people are most creative when they are just getting their day started. Others are night owls and work better during the wee hours of the morning. This is where to begin to develop your plan. Take care of all pressing obligations, obstacles, anything that can hinder your creativity.
Don’t forget to take time out for you. Relax … that goes in your plan too. Make a special effort to smile more and have more pleasant interactions with others. Your experiences also play a role in shaping your mindset and your outlooks which can come out in your writings. Have fun learning you, discover yourself. Understand what generates your emotions. Notice what inspires you and what drives you crazy. Use these emotions to help you express yourself and your thoughts, just let your creativity grow.
3)Your environment should be a place that inspires you. Create a place that makes you feel happy and relaxed. If you know noise is a hindrance wait until you are able to hear your thoughts. Creativity comes when you are in a relaxed state of mind. Remove all clutter and create organizational system that works for you.
Create a working space that inspires you to generate ideas about the topic you are focusing on. You can also include items that give you warm thoughts, happy feelings, or soothing. Maybe put up some pictures or art, or aromatherapy, objects of encouragement, or anything you like that will put you in your best place and start your creative juices flowing. A clean and well organized workplace also rids of distractions and unwanted hindrances. With a good working place, you can work in peace and never notice the time pass by.
4) Set a creative mood. Just go with the moment and learn how to just go with your thoughts. When you are preparing to write and you are looking for inspiration, try something like: What do you like to do for relaxation? What topic do you know like the back of your hand? What was your favorite subject in school? Do you have an opinion on dating and relationships? Or subject you are learning – write about your experience learning. Use what interests you to give you a starting place to start your creative juices flowing. Once you find your tempo and get in your groove, everything else will fall into place.
There are no limits to ways you can set the mood. Some writers choose alcohol, sipping wine to stir the imagination. Others like mood music and some let the illumination of the environment set the right mood.
5) Vacation or just have fun. Relaxing time away or a fun day out on the town, have a new adventure, let yourself go. Get your adrenaline pumping let your imagination go wild. Find something unusual and different, something you always wanted to do. You will be surprised how your creative mind will take hold of that experience and your imagination will to go into overdrive.
